How It Works

From first call to refund in your account, usually 4 to 6 weeks.

Free Quote Call

15 minutes on the phone. We learn about your situation, estimate your likely refund, and give you a fixed monthly fee. No obligation.

You Sign, We Switch

Short authorisation form. We contact your old accountant (if you have one), pull your records from HMRC, and get everything set up. You keep working.

Refund Claimed, You're Paid

We file your return with every allowable expense claimed. HMRC process it. Your refund lands in your account, typically within 4 to 6 weeks of filing.

Our CIS Services

Everything you need under one roof.

Monthly CIS Returns

For contractors paying subcontractors. Filed on time, every month. Avoid the £100 HMRC penalty per missed return.

CIS Tax Refund Claims

Most subbies overpay tax. We claim back what HMRC owe you, typically £1,500 to £2,500 a year for full-time subbies.

Self-Assessment

Your full annual return. CIS deductions claimed, allowable expenses, tools and mileage. Filed by 31 January.

Verification & Gross Status

Subbie verification, HMRC registration, gross payment status applications so you keep the full payment.

Built for the trade

We speak subbie, not jargon.

Tools, mileage, fuel, PPE, phone, public liability. We know what HMRC will allow
because we do this every week.

Why this matters

Most subbies are owed more than they realise.

A full-time subcontractor earning £45k typically has over £2,000 in allowable expenses most DIY returns miss: tools, mileage, PPE, phone, insurance, accountancy fees.

Why Manchester Trusts Us

The things Manchester subbies ask us every week.

What is CIS?

The Construction Industry Scheme is HMRC’s tax framework for the building trade. Contractors deduct 20% or 30% from subcontractor payments and send it to HMRC as advance tax. Most subcontractors end up overpaying and are owed a refund at year end.

How do I claim my CIS tax refund?

You file a self-assessment showing your income, your CIS deductions, and your allowable expenses (tools, mileage, fuel, PPE). HMRC compare what you’ve paid vs what you owe. Anything overpaid comes back as a refund. We do the lot for you.

How much refund am I likely to get?

Depends on earnings, deductions and expenses, but typical refunds for full-time subbies are £1,500 to £2,500. Higher if you have significant tools, vehicle or fuel costs. We’ll give you a real figure on your free quote call.

Do I need a CIS accountant if I'm a sole trader?

Not legally required, but most subbies who file their own returns either miss the refund entirely or claim less than they’re owed. A CIS accountant typically pays for themselves several times over in refund alone.

How quickly can I switch?

Usually within a week. We send a short authorisation form, contact your previous accountant, and pick up where they left off. No gaps, no missed deadlines.
