Electric vehicle chargepoint grants for businesses (2026/27)

If you’re switching your fleet or company cars to electric, the government’s Workplace Charging Scheme still pays towards installing chargepoints at your premises. From 1 April 2026 the grant rose to up to £500 per socket, and funding runs until 31 March 2027.

Who can claim

Businesses, charities and public sector organisations can apply for up to 40 sockets across all their sites. Small accommodation businesses can also apply. You must own the premises or have your landlord’s consent, and have dedicated off-street parking for staff or fleet vehicles.

How it works

  1. Check eligibility and apply through GOV.UK.
  2. Use an installer authorised by the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV).
  3. The grant covers up to 75% of the installation cost (including VAT), capped at £500 per socket.

Installations completed from 1 April 2026 get the higher £500 rate, even if you applied earlier.

Why it’s worth doing now

Electric company cars still carry a far lower benefit-in-kind charge than petrol or diesel cars. Grants like this rarely last for ever, and this round closes on 31 March 2027. See our post Benefit in Kind Rates 2026/27 for the latest rates.
