Chartered accountants for Manchester’s independent businesses
From the Northern Quarter and Ancoats to Spinningfields, the Gay Village and Salford Quays, we look after the owner-run businesses that keep Manchester busy. That means bars and restaurants, creative and marketing agencies, consultants and contractors, and the people behind them.
The practice is run by Adrian Hargreaves, an ICAEW Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser who worked at PwC before setting up the practice in 2022. You get Big Four-level tax advice on a fixed monthly fee, from a team based just outside the city centre in Middleton.

NO PAPER CHASE
Send receipts from your phone, sign your accounts online and keep everything in one secure, GDPR-compliant place. No boxes of paperwork, no trips into town.

MEET YOUR WAY
Video call between services, a quick phone catch-up, or a face-to-face meeting when it matters. You don't pay for a city-centre office you never visit.

LATE-NIGHT FRIENDLY
Hospitality and agency owners don't keep office hours, and we don't expect you to. Message us on WhatsApp or text and get a straight answer.

NUMBERS YOU CAN USE
Up-to-date figures from bank feeds and your till or job system, so you're making decisions this week on this week's numbers, not last year's accounts.

CONNECTED SYSTEMS
We link Xero with the tools you already run on, from EPOS and payroll to job-management and CRM systems, and automate the routine steps so nothing is keyed twice.

ONE FIXED FEE
A single monthly fee by direct debit, agreed upfront and spread evenly across the year. No surprise bills when you ring us with a question.
Personal Tax

Directors, landlords, freelancers and anyone with gains to report. We file your self-assessment, claim every relief you're due and tell you what to put aside, so January holds no surprises.
Accounts & Corporation Tax

Year-end accounts and corporation tax for Manchester companies, prepared properly and explained in plain English. We also plan directors' salary and dividends, and handle bookkeeping and VAT.
Payroll Services

Weekly or monthly pay runs for teams on changing rotas, RTI submissions, auto-enrolment, holiday pay for irregular hours, and tips handled the way the law now requires.
Business Performance

Margins by night, client or project; cash-flow forecasts; and an honest second opinion before you sign a lease, hire or open a second site. Run the idea past us first.
Hospitality: bars, restaurants and late-night venues
- Payroll for changing rotas. Weekly pay runs for staff whose hours change every week, with holiday pay worked out correctly for irregular hours.
- Tips and service charges. Since October 2024 the law has required tips to be passed on in full by the end of the following month, with a written tips policy. We set up the policy, the payroll treatment and, where it suits, a tronc scheme.
- VAT and cash. VAT returns, card and cash reconciliations from your till system, and stock and gross-margin reporting so you can see which nights and drinks actually make money.
Agencies and professional services
- WIP done properly. Agencies bill ahead of, or behind, the work. We split accrued and deferred income correctly at each month end and year end, so your profit reflects the work actually done.
- Profit by client and project. We set up Xero, linked to your job-management system, so you can see which retainers and projects pay their way.
- Directors’ pay and freelancers. We plan the owners’ salary, dividends and pension each year, and check employment status (the IR35 and off-payroll working rules) for the freelancers you use regularly.
Case study: new owners of a city-centre bar
The owners came into hospitality a few years ago with no background in the sector. They needed to understand how a bar’s operations and finances fit together, from scratch. We walked them through the numbers that matter, such as margins, staff costs, VAT and cash, and set up the reporting and routines they now run the business on.
Case study: a Spinningfields marketing agency
The agency had struggled to find a qualified accountant who understood how an agency really works. They run their jobs through Synergist, which is excellent for tracking work in progress. We use their Synergist data to split accrued and deferred income correctly, so their accounts match how the work is actually delivered and billed.
How we work with you
We’re a paperless practice, so most city-centre clients work with us by video call, phone and WhatsApp, and sign everything online. When you want to meet in person, we’ll come to you or you can visit our Middleton office. Fees are fixed monthly and agreed in advance.
Ready to talk? Call 0161 549 5354 or email hello@everydayaccountants.co.uk for a free, no-obligation chat. We also serve Oldham, Chadderton, Rochdale and Radcliffe.
You’re in Middleton. Can you look after a city-centre business?
Yes. Most of our Manchester clients work with us entirely online, and we’re a short drive away when a face-to-face meeting helps.
Do I have to share tips and service charges with staff?
Yes. Since 1 October 2024 employers must pass on all qualifying tips without deductions (other than tax and NI), by the end of the following month, and keep a written policy. We’ll help you set up a compliant process.
When does my business need to register for VAT?
When taxable turnover goes over £90,000 in any rolling 12 months, or you expect it to within the next 30 days. Many bars reach this quickly, so we keep an eye on it for you.
We use lots of freelancers. Is that a risk?
It can be. If someone works like an employee, HMRC may treat them as one. We review how your freelancers work and help you structure the arrangements properly.

EXCELLENT Based on 27 reviews Posted on Google Ella LimTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Everyday Accountants have been a genuine extension of our finance function at Symphony Commerce. They’ve taken full ownership of the day-to-day financial operations — from troubleshooting system issues across our platforms, to handling customer invoicing queries and managing credit and collections activity. That’s well beyond what you’d typically get from an outsourced bookkeeping provider. What sets them apart is the effort they put into understanding how Symphony actually works — our commercial model, our processes, the nuances of a B2B SaaS business. They don’t just process transactions; they engage with the complexity and take accountability for getting it right.Posted on Google Lily DTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Adrian and Nicole are absolutely brilliant at what they do. They are prompt in responding back to any queries and give suggestions on how to deal with any financial accounting queries. As a business owner, accounts can feel tedious and complicated. Both Adrian and Nicole make it easy to navigate through what is needed to file them. I highly recommend to anyone who has a business and want to be organised. Thank you so much!Posted on Google Jordan CopeTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Nicole is always extremely diligent in completing any accounting work required, and couldn't be more helpful when answering any questions. She periodically sets time aside to meet in person at key times during the year, which is extremely beneficial being both self employed and a business owner. All of this culminates in an exceptional level of customer service.Posted on Google The Iron CircleTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Before we found Everyday Accountants, our accounts were a mess and our book-keeping was even worse. Now Adrian and Nicole handle everything from payroll to general advice, they even found mistakes from our old bookkeeper that ended up putting money back in our pocket . These days we're allways ready for the taxman! Highly recommend 👌🏻Posted on Google Cassidy-Rae PinderTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Since moving over to Everyday Accountants, the whole process has felt far more organised and transparent. You’re never left wondering what’s happening — everything is explained clearly and dealt with promptly. What stands out most for me is how accessible the team are. Whether it’s a quick query or something more detailed, they’re always on hand and happy to talk things through. They’ve helped us navigate some important decisions over the past year, particularly around tax planning and business growth, and their advice has given us confidence to move forward knowing we’re structured properly. It genuinely feels like they’re invested in the long-term success of the business rather than just handling the compliance side. I’d happily recommend Everyday Accountants to anyone wanting a reliable, forward-thinking accountancy partner.Posted on Google Joanne SizerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Working with Everyday Accountants has been a real step up from our previous firm. The difference in communication, responsiveness, and proactive advice was clear straight away. The team has been incredibly supportive — approachable, knowledgeable, and always willing to explain things clearly. I feel a genuine sense of trust and comfort whenever we speak, which makes a big difference. The biggest value for us has been the strategic guidance and tax planning support, along with the reassurance that everything is handled properly behind the scenes. They’ve supported us through important milestones and made what could have been stressful situations feel manageable. I’d highly recommend them to any business looking for an accountant who feels like a true partner.Posted on Google Gavin ReynoldsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I can’t recommend Everyday Accountants highly enough, especially Adrian, who has been absolutely brilliant from day one. After moving over from a previous firm, the difference has been night and day the service is more proactive, clearer, and far more personal. Adrian has supported me through some key stages in my business journey, always making time to explain things properly and giving advice that genuinely adds value, not just ticking boxes. There’s a real sense of trust and comfort when speaking with him it feels like having someone in your corner who actually cares about getting things right. The biggest value Everyday provide is the peace of mind and confidence that everything is being handled professionally, alongside guidance that helps you make better commercial decisions as you grow. If you’re looking for an accountancy firm that’s approachable, responsive, and genuinely invested in your success, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Adrian and the team at Everyday.Posted on Google Jola NananaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.
